CRA at the 6th International Congress "Science and Technology for the Safeguard of Cultural Heritage in the Mediterranean Basin"

The Centre for Restoration of Artworks (CRA) took part in the 6th International Congress "Science and Technology for the Safeguard of Cultural Heritage in the Mediterranean Basin", which took place on 22-25 October 2013 in Athens, Greece.

The project of restoration and exhibition of wall paintings from the early-Christian basilica 'The red church', near the town of Perushtitsa, Bulgaria, was presented.

Prof. Angel Pavlov (CRA) presented the results from the experimental removal of oil overpaintings using atmospheric plasma. The study was carried out within the PANNA project (EC FP7 funded collaborative project).

This was the seventh edition of the congress, which has been held since 1996 in Europe and  Africa, with the aim to demonstrate how crucial the contributions of science and technology can be for the preservation of our common cultural heritage. This year the congress was hosted by the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).
