The St. Petka church in Tvarditsa has been built in 1834.
Three periods in its painting have been identified.
The murals from the first period depicted only a strictly monumental architecture. The second period is from the second half of the XIX century. The third period from the painting of the temple is the most important, with most numerous scenes and decorations. It is presumed that the author of this painting is Kiril Kanchev. He repeats the scene with God-Sabaoth from the preceding period, shifting it to the west, without painting figures on the top. This ethic attitude allowed restorators to expose better and more completely the different stages of temple’s painting.
The icons and the iconostasis, without dado panels with scenes from the Hexameron, discovered during the investigation, part of the dome in the naos, the northern, southern, and western walls, as well as the boarding sheet of the emporia have been restored.
