The icon located within the “Holy Assumption of Virgin Mary” in the village of Arbanasi, dates back to the 17th century. Its author is unknown.
The icon’s base is wooden and consists of three hand-carved oak boards with two kushaks and a dug-in frame.
The execution technique is egg tempera. The halos and the background are gilded with golden tin, which is also silver in some spots. The painting is thin-layered. Only the saints’ faces have been developed in more detail.
Following the completion of the restoration, the rich colours typical for the period and the masterful work of the iconographer were revealed.
