The St. Paraskevi church, located in Pleven's city centre, is a cultural heritage property of national significance. The church was designed by master Gencho “The Great” Kanev from Trayvna, an apprentice of Kolyo Ficheto. The temple was consecrated on 20 December 1872 by the first Bulgarian exarch Antim I.
The church is a three-nave basilica with an atrium. It was decorated in 1914 by Gospodin Zhelyazkov, Apostol Hristov, and Hristo Berberov – artists from Sofia. In 1903, Ivan Kostadinov built a new iconostasis with icons made by Danail Nestorov.
In 2012, the murals, the iconostasis with icons, and bishop’s throne were restored.
