Thracian mound Shoushmanets
The tomb is located near Shipka, Kazanlak municipality, and has been discovered in 1996. Dates back to IV century A.D.
Consists of a large corridor (dromos) and two chambers. The first one is rectangular, with a dome, and a pillar in the extrados. The real burial chamber is round, with a dome and a pillar in the centre. The entrance to it has a plastic profiled fronton and two-sided door, on which red caisson and solar signs are painted. It is built of white stone cubes and decorated with channeled Doric pilasters.
It is a cultural heritage asset of national significance.
With regard to its protection and exposure, a permanent protecting cover of the tomb was performed. Biocidal treatment was also applied. The stone blocks were cleaned and strengthened. The coverings were border, cleaned and strengthened. Many adverse processes of destruction of the tomb were interrupted and thus, its exposure in a good state was possible.
