New life for the murals in the St. George church in Arbanassi, which were detached 40 years ago

A report by NovaTV on the restoration process of the murals in the St. George church in the Bulgarian village of Arbanassi.

The church was decorated in the beginning of the 18th century. Due to renovation activities on the building, the murals were detached and remained in that state for 39 years (from 1973 to 2012). The inappropriate storage conditions have damaged a large part of them, yet 90 % of the murals were preserved. A team of conservation specialists are putting them back to their places piece by piece.
